First Made In India Jeep Compass Rolls Off Production Line
The first Jeep Compass rolled off the production line in Maharastra, India. Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis was present at the roll out ceremony.
Jeep India officially rolled out the first Compass SUV in the country. India joins China, Brazil and Mexico as a manufacturing and export hub for the Jeep Compass,
The Ranjangaon plant which is manufacturing the Jeep Compass will be the only plant for right-hand drive (RHD) markets across the world.

Maharashtra's Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis was also present to witness the first Jeep Compass being rolled at the production facility. The company unveiled the SUV in India for the first time in May 2017.

The American company has invested about $280 Million (over ₹ 1,800 Crore) in the development of the new Jeep Compass, at the Ranjangaon facility.

Kevin Flynn, President and MD of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA), India Operations mentioned that the Compass produced in India is a global product and asserted their previous claim about the export of India-made Jeep Compass to other global markets.

With the exclusivity of producing RHD means India can certainly expect superior quality and performance from the Jeep Compass. Exports of the India made Jeep Compass will begin by the end of 2017.

The company took 23 months for the development of the plant for the production of the Jeep Compass. Also, about 65 percent of the parts of the Jeep Compass went into the production of it have been locally sourced.

Jeep will also be launching MOPAR, the company's exclusive source for original equipment parts and accessories for Jeep vehicles to promote customer service.

Mass production of the Jeep Compass will begin by July 2017 and will start arriving at dealerships across the country by the third quarter of 2017. The India-spec Compass will be available in three variants - Sport, Longitude and Limited.

Powering the Jeep Compass is a 1.4-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol and a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged diesel motor.

The petrol unit churns out 160bhp and 260Nm of torque, while the diesel motor develops 170bhp and 350Nm of torque. Gearbox duties are carried out by a 6-speed manual unit and an optional 7-speed automatic gearbox.
The SUV will get a four-wheel-drive system, which will get Jeep's terrain response system. Drive modes such as Snow, Sand and Rock options will come included in the Jeep Compass.
