Jeep Compass Gets A Price Hike After GST Revision
Prices of the Jeep Compass have been increased post-GST revision of Cess on SUVs.
The automobile industry has begun revising the rates of their vehicles post the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Council decided to hike the GST Cess for SUVs by 7 percent. Toyota Kirloskar Motor and Honda Cars India have already announced a hike in their car prices. Now, Jeep India has announced the price hike on the recently launched Compass SUV.
The Jeep Compass receives an increase in price between Rs 21,000 to Rs 72,000 based on the variants and engine option. The Jeep Compass base model will now be priced at Rs 15.16 lakh ex-showroom (India), while the top-end Compass Limited (O) 4x4 is now priced at Rs 21.37 lakh.

Both the petrol and the diesel models received a price increase as the new GST Cess on SUVs changed from the initial 43 percent to 50 percent. The new prices of the Jeep Compass are applicable from September 15, 2017.

Jeep India builds the Compass in India and is extensively localized to keep the prices low; however, models brought to India through the Completely Built-up (CBU) route are quite expensive. Jeep's CBU models like the Grand Cherokee and Wrangler unlimited receives a price hike in the range of Rs 2.75 lakh to Rs 6.4 lakh.
Jeep's parent company Fiat Crysler Automobiles which sells the Fiat Punto, Fiat Avventura, Abarth Punto, Abarth Avventura and Fiat Linea along with the range-topping Abarth 595 in India. Only the Fiat Linea and Avventura received rate increase ranging between Rs 9,000 to Rs 14,000.

While the base model of the Jeep Compass received a minimal hike of Rs 21,000, the top variant Limited (O) 4x4 is now pricier by Rs 72,000. The Jeep Compass is still a good buy as it's a stylish and a capable SUV.
