Jeep Compass To Be Launched In India Tomorrow

American automaker Fiat Chrysler Automobiles is all set to launch its third SUV, the Compass in the Indian market. After overpriced Jeep products, the new SUV will be an affordable product from the company.
The Jeep Compass is based on the Renegade's platform and borrows styling cues from the Grand Cherokee. On the styling front, the Compass looks like an expensive product from FCA.
The India-spec Compass will be offered in two engine options. A 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine and a 2-litre diesel engine. The petrol motor pumps out 138bhp, and the oil burner churns out 170bhp.
The entry-level petrol variant of the Compass will keep the price in check. The all-wheel-drive is only offered with the diesel variant to cover rough terrain with ease. Transmission duties are handled by a 6-speed manual and a 9-speed automatic gearbox.
The Jeep Compass features LED projector headlamps with daytime running LED lights. The top-of-the-range variant will also get full glass roof. The interior of the SUV features 5-inch UConnect touchscreen infotainment system on the base variant.
The higher trims of the Compass SUV is likely to get bigger 7-inch touchscreen display with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. An 8.4-inch display is available in the global market, but it is unsure whether India-spec model will get the same.
The Jeep Compass is expected to be priced between Rs 20 lakh to Rs 27 lakh in India. The smallest SUV from Jeep will rival against the likes of Hyundai Tucson and Honda CR-V. With its off-roading capabilities, the Compass will take on the likes of Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour.
