Jeep Compass Crosses Another Milestone As Booking Madness Continues
Jeep has had to increase production of the Compass to deal with the demand for the Compass SUV in India.
American SUV manufacturer Jeep opened bookings for the Compass in India on 19 June. By the time the SUV was launched in the country on the 31st of July, Jeep had garnered 5,000 bookings for the Compass.
Now, just one month after the launch of the Jeep Compass in India, the SUV has doubled the number of bookings to 10,000 units.
This booking spree of 5,000 units in a month has forced Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (the parent company of Jeep) to ramp up production of the Compass at its Ranjangaon plant, with two shifts set to work six days a week to meet the demand for the Compass.
Jeep also claims a fivefold increase in enquiries since opening order books in June and have received over 92,000 inquiries regarding the SUV since the day bookings opened.
The Jeep Compass is the company's first SUV to be assembled in India and this allowed Jeep to get aggressive with its pricing. There are ten variants currently on offer in India with the base petrol variant starting at Rs 14.99 lakh while the top-spec diesel variant with four-wheel drive comes in at Rs 20.65 lakh (all prices ex-showroom).
Commenting on the milestone Kevin Flynn - President and Managing Director, FCA India said, "The Made in India Jeep Compass has gained remarkable traction in the market since we opened the order books in June. Along with the incredible response to our pricing, which has been simply overwhelming, customers are also drawn to the Jeep Compass for its impressive character, sophistication, capability, and authenticity. We are working with our plant to deliver the product to customers in the least possible time."
