Jaguar XE Diesel Launched In India; Priced At Rs 38.25 Lakh

Powering the new Jaguar XE diesel model is the 2.0-litre Ingenium four-cylinder turbocharged diesel unit which produces 177bhp and 430Nm of torque. The motor is paired to an 8-speed automatic gearbox with paddle shifters.

Jaguar India has finally plugged a gaping hole in the sedan's India line-up with the diesel model of the XE sedan. The Jaguar XE was the only model without a diesel heart in the company's portfolio in the country.

Compared to its closest rival, the Jaguar XE diesel produces about 10bhp more than the entry-level Mercedes C 220d and about 10bhp lower than the BMW 320d and the Audi A4 35 TDI.

As per the brochure, the equipment list between the petrol and the diesel models there are not much of a difference. The XE sedan is assembled locally at the company's plant in Pune.

The design of the Jaguar XE diesel is similar to its petrol sibling and sits on the lightweight aluminium architecture. Features on the Jaguar XE include an eight-inch touchscreen InControl infotainment system, panoramic sunroof and Meridian Sound System among others.

Also, the sedan will be equipped with the JaguarDrive Control system enables the driver to choose between different driving modes like Normal, Eco, Dynamic, Rain, Snow, etc.

Jaguar had begun taking bookings for the XE diesel model nearly a month ago.
