JLR India managing director Rohit Suri said, "In the past one year, Jaguar XE has gained immense popularity and success in the Indian market and we are now pleased to offer the choice of diesel to our customers,"

Bookings for the Jaguar XE are open across all 24 authorised Jaguar dealerships in India. The Jaguar XE petrol variant is available in three variants - Pure, Prestige and Portfolio.

The Jaguar XE is positioned to rival the likes of BMW 3 Series, Audi A4 and the Mercedes-Benz C-Class. The rear wheel drive (RWD) petrol Jaguar XE is offered in two-states of tunes and it is to be seen if the diesel model will be offered with similar specifications.

While the petrol model of the XE has received luke warm responce in the Indian market, the diesel is expected to play an important role in increasing its appeal in the country.
