Jaguar Reveals Autonomous Future-Type Concept
Jaguar has revealed a new autonomous Future-Type concept.
Jaguar has revealed a new autonomous Future-Type concept at the group's tech fest held in London.
The Jaguar Future-Type is described as a premium compact on-demand vehicle concept. The concept is designed for car sharing, and it is an autonomous and electric vehicle.
The prominent highlight of the concept is the unique Sayer steering wheel. It is a removable unit with artificial intelligence (AI) and voice recognition to summon the car or to perform other several tasks. It also doubles up as your personal companion.
When integrated with a car-sharing service, the owner of the car club will only need the steering wheel to access any vehicle which is compatible with the Sayer.

Jaguar states that an on-demand fleet of Future-Type's with 2+1 seating configuration would enable car club owners to pick a vehicle needed for their needs. The concept can also communicate with other vehicles on the road which makes it a safe car to travel.
The Future-Type concept is also compact and will not take much space on the road and in car parks. The steering wheel is also built for driving. The driver can disable the autonomous mode and take over the controls.
Director of Design at Jaguar, Ian Callum said, "FUTURE-TYPE offers an insight into the potential for driving and car ownership in the future. It's part of our vision for how a luxury car brand could continue to be desirable, in a more digital and autonomous age."
DriveSpark Thinks!
The Jaguar Future-Type concept is a preview of the future of mobility, especially in cities. The car ticks all the boxes of future technology and its Jaguar's vision of how a compact car would look in 2040. The best part is the car still has a steering wheel which can be used for actual driving.
