India-Made Renault Kwid Is A Hit In South Africa
The India-made Renault Kwid has become a popular model in the South African market with 1,200 units sold and the model has a waiting period of two months.
The Kwid crossover is a successful product for the French automaker in the Indian market. And in November 2016, Renault launched the India-made Kwid In the South African market.
Now, the Kwid is a popular product in South Africa with an overwhelming response from the customers. According to a report from Engineering News, Renault has sold 1,200 units since its launch in South Africa.
Marketing and Communications Vice President, Renault South Africa, Brian Smith stated that, at the moment the Kwid has a waiting period of around two months.
In the South African market, the Renault Kwid is offered only in 1-litre engine variant. The 1-litre three-cylinder Smart Control efficiency (SCe) engine pumps out 67bhp and the engine is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission.
The interior of the South Africa-spec Kwid features 7-inch MediaNav navigation and multimedia touchscreen system with the piano black centre console. The driver side airbag comes as a standard fitment on all the variants, but the hatchback misses out on the ABS.
In India, the Kwid is offered with two engine options, 1-litre and 800cc engine. The 1-litre variant also comes with the AMT gearbox. The Kwid received an overwhelming response from the Indian customers and has raked over 1.25 lakh bookings in the country.
