India Baja 2017: Abdul Wahid Tanveer Joins The Indian Contingent At Dakar Rally 2018

India Baja 2017 came to an end with the conclusion of the fifth and sixth stage of the competition. Bangalore-based TVS Motorsports rider Abdul Wahid Tanveer finished third in Moto category. He also qualified for the 2018 Dakar Rally.

Despite finishing third overall, Tanveer still qualified for the Dakar Rally, as Rodrigues and Aravind have already competed in the Dakar Rally. He also gets direct qualification into the Merzouga Rally in Morocco later this year.

Hero Motorsports rider Joaquim Rodrigues took the overall victory in the second edition of the India Baja. He was followed by TVS Racing rider Aravind KP, whereas his teammate Tanveer finished third overall.

The Xtreme category saw an intense competition between Raj Singh Rathore and Gaurav Chiripal who trailed by 1 minute at the end of the first four stages.

Gaurav Chiripal won the India Baja 2017 driving a modified Vitara. He won the last two stages of the rally to take his first victory. Raj Singh Rathore finished second overall. Final podium position went to Himanshu Arora driving a Gypsy.
