Hyundai Creta Crosses Another Milestone

South Korean car manufacturer Hyundai has been able to record sales of over 1.5 lakh units of Creta in India. The Hyundai Creta also claimed the title, the Indian Car of the Year in 2016. The popular SUV became the third consecutive car from Hyundai to win the title after the Grand i10 and Elite i20.

Hyundai's arch rival Maruti Suzuki announced a few days ago that its compact SUV, the Vitara Brezza has crossed 1 lakh unit milestone in just a year. Last month, the Creta recorded 9,002 units sales, which was the highest sales volume it registered in a month since its launch.

The manufacturer recently celebrated the first anniversary of the popular SUV by launching a limited-edition Anniversary model. Hyundai also added new variants to the line-up, including diesel and petrol automatic.

The Creta also became the second best-selling utility vehicle in 2015-16 in the country, after the Mahindra Bolero. Thanks to the strong performance of the Creta and other models, Hyundai aims to exceed 5 lakh cumulative sales within the ongoing fiscal year.

The Hyundai Creta is powered by a 1.6-litre petrol VTVT engine that generates 121bhp of power and 155Nm of torque, mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. There is also a 1.4-litre diesel unit that delivers 89bhp of power and 220Nm of torque, which comes mated to a 5-speed gearbox.

The top-of-the-range variant comes with a 1.6-litre CRDi engine that produces 150bhp of power and 260Nm of torque; transmission choice includes a 6-speed automatic or a 6-speed manual. The Creta can deliver a fuel economy of 15.29 kmpl to 21.38 kmpl (depending on the variant) according to ARAI.
