Hyundai Carlino India Launch Details Revealed
Hyundai has revealed details about its upcoming new compact SUV, the Carlino.
South Korean automaker Hyundai showcased the Carlino concept model at the 2016 Auto Expo. Now, the launch details of the compact SUV has been revealed.
IAB reports that the production version of the Carlino will be launched in the Indian market in the first half of 2019. This was revealed by MD and CEO of Hyundai India, Y K Koo.
Koo revealed the details of the upcoming compact SUV at the launch event of the next-gen Verna. The Carlino concept is internally named as Hyundai QXi and will be the first product from the South Korean automaker in the compact SUV segment.
Previously it was reported that 60 percent of Hyundai Carlino's research and development would be done in India. The production version of the compact SUV is likely to look different from the concept model.

The Carlino is likely to draw power from a 1-litre turbocharged petrol engine equipped in the Europe-spec i20 hatchback. The diesel variant will be fitted with the 1.4-litre diesel engine which also powers the Creta and Elite i20.
Hyundai has also revealed its plans to introduce the AMT technology in 2018. So, the Carlino might feature the low-cost automatic gearbox. The compact SUV is part of the seven model product portfolio which will be introduced by 2020.

Carlino will be the first compact SUV from the stable of Hyundai. Like several other automakers, Hyundai is also looking to capitalise the growing segment of utility vehicles in the country. When launched, the Carlino will rival the likes of Ford EcoSport, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and the upcoming Tata Nexon.
