Honda WR-V Set To Get A More Powerful Engine — Hot Hatch Time?
The Honda WR-V is set to get more sporty as the Japanese carmaker looks to satisfy its performance enthusiast fan base.
The Honda WR-V was recently launched in India but it looks like the Japanese carmaker is not yet done with the cross-hatch.
Autocar India claims that Honda is working on a more powerful version of the WR-V to appease enthusiasts. The new Honda WR-V will make use of the City sedan's 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol engine.
The 1.5-litre petrol engine pushes out 114bhp and 145Nm of torque. In the City, the engine is available with both manual and automatic gearbox options.
Both options may make their way, which would mean that the WR-V will finally be available with an automatic variant.
The 1.5-litre variant of the Honda WR-V will take on the likes of the Abarth tuned Fiat Avventura and Avventura Urban Cross. Other rivals will include the Fiat Punto Abarth, Maruti Baleno RS and the Volkswagen Polo GT which sport similar power outputs.
However, we don't expect the new WR-V variant to sport the Type-R badge anytime soon. Honda only adds the Type-R badge to the maddest versions of its cars and we don't expect the more powerful WR-V to be crazily different compared to the regular car.
