The Haryana government is all set to introduce electric buses in Gurgaon, to establish an eco-friendly transportation system on the pattern of Poland.

Haryana Urban Local Bodies Minister Kavita Jain stated that around 75-100 electric buses would be operated in the first phase.

Jain is on a visit to the manufacturing facility of JBM Solaris Electric Vehicles Limited in Poznan, Poland. She said that, compared to ordinary buses, the electric bus would save 4.25 lakh litres of fuel and reduce carbon emission by 1,150 tonnes per year.

In the first phase, the electric buses will be operated in Gurgaon, which has excellent infrastructure and facilities in residential, commercial and public sectors and national capital region.

Jain further added that the BNG group has already established a facility to manufacture CNG buses in Ballabhgarh near Faridabad. The factory will soon commence the production of electric buses under the Make in India initiative.
