Ace Rally Driver Nominated For Arjuna Award
India rally driver and two-time APRC Champion Gaurav Gill has been nominated for Arjuna Award. This is the second time Gill has been recommended for the award.
Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI) has nominated Indian rally driver Gaurav Gill for the Arjuna Award. The prestigious Arjuna Award is the highest civilian honour for sportspersons.

Gill has two Asia Pacific Rally Championship (APRC) titles under his belt. He was dominant in the 2016 season with six out of six victories including the Indian round held in Chikmagalur.

Arjuna Award was introduced in 1961. The award comprises of cash prize worth Rs 5 lakh, a bronze statue of Arjuna and a scroll.

The performance of the nominated sportsperson for the last four years will be taken into account. And then the Sports Ministry of India picks the recipient of the award.

FMSCI President, Akbar Ibrahim said, "Yes, we have recommended him for the honour. He deserves the award and hopefully he will get it this time." This is the second time Gill has been nominated for the award.

If the Sports Ministry of India finds his achievements are worthy of the award, the 35-year old rally driver will be honoured with the award. If he receives the award, Gill will be the first Indian from motorsport background to be honoured with Arjuna Award.
