Formula One: Lewis Hamilton Wins British Grand Prix
Mercedes Formula 1 driver Lewis Hamilton produced a perfect drive to win the British Grand Prix.
Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton produced a perfect drive to win the British Grand Prix. With the victory in front of his home crowd, Hamilton also slashed Sebastian Vettel's championship lead to just one point.
Hamilton had a perfect race leading from start to finish. His teammate Valtteri Bottas started the race in ninth position, but his pace was incredible and finished in the second place, a 1-2 finish for the silver arrow team.
Ferrari driver Kimi Raikkonen was on course for second place finish. But Finn's car developed front right tyre problems with three laps to go. Raikkonen made a late pit stop and finished third.
Sebastian Vettel faced even big problems at the end of the race. His car too developed tyre problems due to a big lockup. He drove with his wrecked tyre and managed to finish in the seventh position.
Red Bull drivers Max Verstappen and Daniel Ricciardo finished fourth and fifth respectively. Ricciardo made an incredible recovery, after starting from the 19th position due to a grid penalty for engine components and gearbox changes.
Renault driver Nico Hulkenberg equalled his best finish in Formula One by finishing sixth. Force India duo Esteban Ocon and Sergio Perez finished the race in eighth and ninth respectively. Williams driver Felipe Massa rounded off the top ten finishers.

Lewis Hamilton is back in the game with the home victory. The British driver has closed the gap to Vettel in the championship battle to just one point. Valtteri Bottas is also showing impressive pace, and he is also a contender for the driver's title. Ferrari has to sort out the issues to fight back in the next race.
