Ford India, the Indian wing of the American automaker recorded a positive growth in July 2017. The company's combined domestic wholesales and exports in July reached 26,075 units.
Ford India's domestic sales stood at 8,418 units as opposed to the 7,076 units in 2016. The automaker also exported 17,657 vehicles in July 2017 compared to the 10,666 vehicles in the same period last year.
Ford also announced the promotion of Vinay Raina as the new Executive Director of Marketing, Sales and Service. Lakshmi Ramkumar, in charge of dealer development, replaces Vinay as the new Vice President, Sales at Ford India.
Ford also launched the Cartesy campaign to encourage drivers to be courteous and respectful to others on the road. The campaign also highlights the behavioural issues impacting the safe driving.
President and Managing Director, Ford India, Anurag Mehrotra said, "Despite the administrative challenges associated with the introduction of GST, Ford has continued to grow faster than the industry."
He added, "While the short term headwinds associated with GST and rising input costs remain, we believe a good monsoon, favourable financing rates and rise in consumer confidence will provide a good impetus for the industry."
Ford India was quick on its heels to pass on the GST benefits to the customers. The strong demand in the compact SUV segment also helped the automaker to record a healthy growth in July 2017.
