Force India Could Rebrand Itself As ‘Force 1’ Next Season
Indian Formula One team Force India is all set to be rebranded for next season.
Indian Formula One team Force India is all set to be rebranded for next season. The team is likely to drop 'India' to give it a more international flavour.
In 2016, the Silverstone-based team performed exceptionally well to finish fourth in the constructor's championship. To expand its budget, the team needs more international sponsors.

Force India boss Vijay Mallya already stated that dropping 'India' from the name might help to rope in more global sponsors. Team COO, Otmar Szafnauer also confirmed the development.
Szafnauer said, "At the end of the season, we will make the request to change the name. The word force should remain in the name, so people always know where we come from."

Currently, 'Force 1' is the leading contender for the new name. But any name change has to be approved by the FIA and F1 Commission. Force 1 is short and simple and should be able to give the team an international touch.
