Sixth-Generation Fiat Punto Aka Argo Teased
The next-generation Fiat Punto (Argo) is set for launch in Brazil; based on the Fiat 326 modular architecture.
Argo is the name of Fiat's newest hatchback, set to be launched in Brazil late May 2017. The hatchback with a 2.50m wheelbase will replace the Punto.

The next-generation Fiat Punto (Argo) is set for launch in Brazil; based on the Fiat 326 modular architecture. It will replace not only the Punto but also the Palio, which is sold in Brazil.

The current generation Punto has been on the market since 2005, and since then it has received many updates. Some changes have been like the India-specific refreshed Punto Evo.

Pictures of test mules of the Argo have been circulating on online portals (Quatro Rodas); however, not much is visible except for the basic shape of the body shell.

Interior pictures of the test mule reveal a new interiors design with a steering wheel looking like the one on the Tipo hatchback. HVAC controls and 5" UConnect infotainment system along with a freestanding display will also be making their way into the new Fiat Argo.

Under the hood, the Fiat Argo will be powered by a 1.4 litre GSE - Global Small Engine offering 98bhp power and a new 1.8-litre E.torq EVO engine obtained from the Fiat Toro pickup truck while a 1.6-litre E-Torq petrol engine will also be available.

These units will be paired with manual and automatic gearbox options. On the safety front, the next-generation Punto will sport airbags, ABS and EBD as standard.

It is not clear if Fiat will bring the new car to India and replace the Punto Evo. Fiat recently launched a new entry-level Punto Evo Pure to replace the Punto Pure. The current focus of Fiat is promoting the Jeep brand in the country with the next launch being the Compass SUV.
