Daimler India To Unveil New Export-Oriented Truck
Commercial vehicle manufacturer Daimler India is all set to unveil a new truck exclusively for exports.
Commercial vehicle manufacturer Daimler India will reveal a new truck in the 6.5 tonne to 8.6-tonne segment by September 2017.
The new truck will be exclusive for the export markets. In order to manufacture the new export truck, the company has added a production line at its Oragadam plant in Chennai.
Daimler India stated that the trial runs of the new truck have already commenced. The company will focus on the West Asian markets for the Fuso brand truck. The truck will be unveiled by July-September quarter.
Daimler India Commercial Vehicles Managing Director and CEO, Erich Nesselhauf revealed the information about the new export truck.
Nesselhauf also said that the new truck might also be launched in the Indian market by 2018. Currently, the company exports its products to 30 countries and plans to add ten more markets this year.
Nesselhauf said, "We are adding a product line to our Chennai plant. The truck would be 6.5 tonne to 8.6-tonne range under Fuso brand. Initially, the product will be exported. We might bring that here also later."
He also stated that the company is betting high on the export markets. And combined with the new export-oriented truck, it will benefit the company's India growth. But he refused to comment on the expected growth this year.
