Daimler India Reveals Bharat Benz BS IV Trucks; No Increase In Price
Daimler India launches Bharat Benz BS 4 trucks in India; the BS 4 vehicles to cost the same as previous BS 3 trucks.
Commercial vehicle maker Daimler India Commercial Vehicles Pvt. Ltd. has launched BS IV Bharat Benz trucks but announced no price hike.
The Bharat Benz truck range comprises three product families of haulage trucks, construction trucks and tractors. Daimler India claims the new range of trucks delivers better fuel economy as well as offer lower maintenance costs.
Speaking at the product launch in Chennai today, Erich Nesselhauf, MD and CEO, DICV, said: "Under the tagline of ‘Profit Technology', we are introducing our all-new BharatBenz heavy-duty trucks designed to deliver the best-in-class package of productivity, efficiency and safety."
The Bharat Benz range of trucks above 9 to 49 tonnes has been available as BS 4 variants since August 2016, says Daimler India. Nesselhauf said, with around 1,000 BS-IV trucks delivered to customers already, BharatBenz was leading the BS 4 transition in the commercial vehicles segment.
The Bharat Benz trucks use a system based on Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) technology established in thousands of Daimler CVs in many overseas markets over a decade. The company says it has tested this technology for over a million kilometre in Indian operating conditions.
SCR uses an aqueous urea-based fluid called AdBlue, this is sprayed into the exhaust stream to break down dangerous nitrogen oxide emissions into safe nitrogen and water. AdBlue consumption is only a portion of fuel consumption, so refill periods are lower, says the company. AdBlue is available in India at all BharatBenz dealerships and other outlets.
The newly revealed trucks come equipped with cruise control, LED-accented headlamp, reverse camera, and air conditioner to decrease driver fatigue.
Nesselhauf said, they would follow the same strategy, of not increasing the prices and yet provide the features of the BS 4 for buses as well.
