Competition Commission Rejects Complaint Against Jaguar Land Rover
The Competition Commission of India has rejected a complaint against Jaguar Land Rover and its dealer. The CCI stated that the matter comes under consumer dispute.
The Competition Commission has rejected a complaint against luxury carmaker Jaguar Land Rover and its dealer for alleged unfair business practices.
The Competition Commission of India (CCI) stated that the matter is a "consumer dispute" and does not raise any competition concern. A complaint was filed against Jaguar Land Rover Automotive PLC, AMP Motors Pvt Ltd and Future Generali India Insurance Company Ltd.
In the complaint, it was alleged that AMP Motors, an authorised dealer of Jaguar Land Rover had imposed unfair condition by demanding a high amount of money te repair a Jaguar XF car.
The Competition Commission of India noted that the dispute was a matter of deficiency in services and the case is related to consumer litigation as it does not relate to unfair competition.
The order from CCI read, "The Commission is of the prima facie opinion that the present dispute between the informant and opposite parties is a consumer dispute and does not raise any competition concern."
The order further read, "No prima facie case of abuse of dominance under Section 4 of the Competition Act is made out against the opposite parties."
