2017 Camaro ZL1 Breaches New Speed Barrier — The Fastest Muscle Car of All Time?
The 2017 Camaro ZL1 features a 6.2-litre supercharged V8 that cranks out 650bhp of power and 881Nm of peak torque.
The 2017 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 has now become the fastest production Camaro ever built, and it managed to hit 202.3mph (325.5km/h) in one direction at the Automotive Testing Papenburg proving ground in Germany.

However, the ZL1 only recorded 193.3mph (311km/h) in the other direction, resulting in an official top speed of 198mph (318km/h). The test car that did the speed run featured a 10-speed automatic transmission.

The tyres used for the top speed test were a set of production Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar 3 with pressure set at 44psi. The test car was also fitted with mandatory safety equipment and data logging equipment.

Al Oppenheiser, Camaro chief engineer, said, "The ZL1 was developed with high-speed performance in mind, incorporating a balanced aerodynamic package that reduces lift without significantly affecting drag."

The 2017 Camaro ZL1 features a 6.2-litre supercharged V8 that cranks out 650bhp of power and 881Nm of peak torque. The motor is mated to a rev-matching six-speed manual or the above mentioned 10-speed automatic gearbox.

Chevrolet claims that the Camaro ZL1 can make a sprint from 0 to 100km/h in 3.5 seconds and can post a standing quarter-mile in 11.4 seconds. It is available in both coupe and convertible body styles.
