2017 BMW 5 Series Specifications
The new BMW 5 Series is offered with three different engine options in India: a solitary petrol and two diesel powerplants all of which are mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox that sends power and torque to the rear wheels, which also help with the steering.

The lonesome petrol powerplant sits under the bonnet of the 530i and is a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine producing 248.5bhp @ 5,200-6,500rpm and 350Nm of torque @ 1,450-4,800rpm. The 530i sprints to 100kph from a standstill in 6.2 seconds and has a top speed of 250kph.
The smaller of the two diesel powerplants is found in the 520d and the turbocharged 2.0-litre engine produces 187bhp @ 4,000rpm and 400Nm of torque @1,750-2,500rpm. The BMW 520d sprints from 0-100kph in 7.5 seconds and continues accelerating till it tops out at 235kph.

The largest engine in the new 5 Series lineup for India is found on the 530d M Sport. The 3.0-litre twin-turbo straight six diesel engine kicks out 261bhp @ 4,000rpm and 620Nm of torque @2,000-2,500rpm. The BMW 530d accelerates from zero to 100kph in 5.7 seconds and maxes out when the limiter kicks in at 250km/h.
The new BMW 5 Series (codenamed G30) is 4,935mm long, 1,868mm wide, 1,466mm tall, and is 36mm longer, 6mm wider and 2mm taller than the car it replaces (F10). The wheelbase has also increased in length by 7mm and is now 2,975mm long. Boot space is also up by 10-litres and now measures 530-litres and the all-new 5 Series is 70 kilos lighter than the car it replaces as well.
BMW 5 Series Design & Features
The new 5 Series is an evolution of the previous generation executive sedan's design language. Up front, the LED headlamps are sleeker, and the DRLs have lost their circular design. The headlamps are now connected with the chrome chrome-lined iconic BMW kidney grille as well.

The headlamps and the tail lamps are connected by a shoulder line that runs along the side of the new 5 Series which sits on 18-inch alloy wheels.
Inside, the 5 Series sports a dashboard and centre console design scheme inspired by its larger sibling, the BMW 7 Series and offers 6 different upholstery options. The 10.25-inch touchscreen display can also be controlled by using preset gestures, the iDrive controller or by using a remote control. The display is connected to a 600 Watt, 16-speaker Harmon Kardon System.

Other features on the new 5 Series include remote control parking which can be activated with the help of the display key for the business sedan. Other features heads-up display 360-degree cameras ambient lighting, and wireless charging and optional twin 10.2-inch displays for the rear seat.
BMW has packed the new 5 Series with a host of safety features including six airbags, ABS with brake assist and dynamic braking lights, park distance control, traction control, stability control and cornering brake control.

The all-new BMW 5 Series is available in eight different colours: Alpine White, Black Sapphire, Bluestone Metallic, Carbon Black, Cashmere Silver, Imperial Blue Brilliant Effect, Jatoba, and Mediterranean Blue.
