Maruti Alto Is No More The Best-Selling Car In India
Maruti Dzire has become the No. 1 selling car in India in August 2017.
Maruti Alto has been the undisputed top-selling car in India for quite some time now, and there are hardly any models which could challenge its dominance. But that has changed in August 2017, as per sales figures Maruti Suzuki sold 30,934 units of the Dzire compact sedan setting a new record.
Maruti Alto was the second best-selling car in August 2017 with sales of 21,521 units followed by Maruti Baleno at 17,190 units at the third position. The sales figures of Maruti Dzire includes the new-generation Dzire and previous generation Dzire which is sold to taxi operators. The third-generation Dzire was launched in May 2017 with a new design and premium features.
The new Dzire compact sedan was updated with projector headlights with LED DRLs and a 7.0-inch infotainment system. Additionally, safety features such as dual airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist come as standard fitment across all variants.

The new Maruti Dzire is available in both petrol and diesel engines. The petrol Dzire is powered by a 1.2-litre, four cylinder unit producing 82bhp and 113Nm of torque. The diesel Dzire is powered by a 1.3-litre, four cylinder unit developing 74bhp and 190Nm of torque. Both the units come mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox, while the AMT is available as an option.

The previous generation Maruti Dzire was popular among private owners as well as taxi operators. Now, the new-generation Dzire has captured the market as well with its new design language and features and most of Maruti extensive sales and service network playing a pivotal role in buyers decision.
