Street Racers Beware — Australian Police Just Got A Cool New Patrol Car
The Victoria Police now use a Mercedes-AMG E43 patrol car that has replaced the GLE63 Coupe.
The Australian police have been handed over keys to a Mercedes-AMG E43 that will be used as a patrol car throughout the state. The car is to be used by Australia's Victoria Police.

The new Mercedes-AMG E43 will replace the GLE63 Coupe used by the force and is on loan from Mercedes-Benz for the next 12 months. The car has been selected by the Victoria police force for its performance and also being the perfect car to showcase the importance of advanced safety systems.

The current E-Class boasts advanced driver aids like semi-autonomous driving, similar to Tesla's Autopilot system. Discussing the car, Doug Fryer, the Assistant Commissioner said, "All we are asking is that you consider safety for your car as an investment, an investment in the safety of yourself and for your family, it shouldn't be an optional extra."

The Mercedes-AMG E43 comes powered by a 3.0-litre V6 twin-turbo engine generating 396bhp and 520Nm of torque. That's adequate performance to keep pace with most cars on the road.
