Audi R8 Spyder V10 Plus Revealed With 602bhp
German carmaker Audi has revealed its fastest drop-top car till date in the form of the R8 Spyder V10 Plus.
German carmaker Audi has revealed the R8 Spyder V10 Plus, the fastest convertible from the luxury car marque till date.
The Audi R8 Spyder V10 Plus adds more power to its regular drop-top supercar and reduces weight which brings it in line with its hardtop sibling. Along with the mechanical changes, the R8 Spyder V10 Plus also gets cosmetic changes which give it a more aggressive look compared to the regular Spyder.
Powering the R8 Spyder V10 Plus is a 5.2-litre V10 that revs to an ear-splitting 8,200rpm to produce 602bhp (70bhp more than the regular Spyder) and 560Nm of torque which is sent to all four wheels by a 7-speed dual clutch transmission. The Quattro four-wheel drive system can also transfer the entire power from the engine to either axle.
The mid-mounted engine also features a cylinder-on-demand system that deactivates one of the cylinder banks of the V10. In effect, when the demands on the engine are low, it transforms into a five-cylinder engine.
The Audi R8 Spyder V10 Plus sprints from 0-100kph in just 3.3 seconds (0.3 seconds faster than the regular Spyder) and continues accelerating till it tops out at 328kph.
The cloth folding roof's frame is made from aluminium and magnesium. The roof takes 20 seconds to open and close which can be done on the move at speeds of up to 50kph. Cosmetic changes include carbon front splitter and a gloss black grille along with carbon fibre rear wing and 19-inch aluminium wheels.
Audi has open the order books for the new R8 Spyder V10 Plus and deliveries will start in the summer with prices starting from €207,500 (Rs 1.49 crore).
DriveSpark Thinks!
The Audi R8 V10 Plus with its Lamborghini-sourced V10 is a proper howler of a car. With the roof down, the Audi supercar is a must buy for those who love the soundtrack of the naturally aspirated V10.
