Mandatory Car Safety Features In India From July 2019 — Here's The List
The Union road transport ministry of India has approved the timeline for implementing car airbags, speed alert, parking sensors, seat belt reminders.
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways of India recently released the 2016 annual statistics report which revealed that nearly 60 percent of the road accidents and deaths in Maharashtra happened due to speeding and rash driving.
To address the issue of overspeeding and the consequences of the same, the Union road transport ministry of India has approved the timeline for implementation of mandatory safety features on new cars says a report by The Times Of India.

All new cars manufactured after July 1, 2019, will have to be equipped with mandatory safety features like airbags, seat-belt reminders, alert systems for speeding beyond 80kph, reverse parking sensors and manual override over the central locking system for emergencies.

Cars manufactured from July 1, 2019, will be equipped with a system that issues audio alerts when the speed crosses 80kph and the warning will be sharper when the car passes 100kph and non-stop when the speed is over 120kph.

In case of electric power failure renders the central locking feature non-functional and traps the passengers inside, the manual override system would ensure ease of exit from the vehicle.

Also, the parking sensors will guide and alert the driver if there are any objects in the rear monitoring range. Additionally, the ministry said that the enforcement of the provisions would make way for faster implementation of frontal and side crash test for vehicles.
