Aditya Patel and Mitch Gilbert Clinch Podium Spot In Blancpain GT Series Asia

Audi India racing driver Aditya Patel and his Malaysian teammate Mitch Gilbert put in an impressive drive in the second round of Blancpain GT Series Asia.
The second round of the Blancpain GT Series Asia was held at Chang International Circuit in Thailand. Both the drivers piloted the Audi R8 LMS of OD Racing to clinch the final podium spot.

Patel and Gilbert had a disappointing first race. The damage caused by the incident on the first lap forced the duo to retire. But they made up for the lost points by charging up the field from 11th to an impressive 3rd place.

The Audi India backed driver got off to a flying start, passing three cars into turn one and then came out unscathed after a massive five-car pile-up to find themselves in 4th spot at the end of lap one.

After a brief safety car period, Patel found himself in a battle with Shaun Thong, eventually losing track position before handing the car over to Gilbert. He battled it out till the end of the race to move up from 5th to 3rd in the dying moments of the race.

Patel said, "In all honesty, I know the weekend could've been so much better, but at the end of the day we're all racing and everybody wants to win. Mitch and I worked hard right from practice to be up on pace but unfortunately qualifying and race one didn't go our way. The podium in race two is definitely what we needed to keep us in the game. We know we can fight harder in Suzuka."
