German sports car carmaker Porsche has revealed the all-new 911 Carrera T. The T in the name stands for Touring and the new 911 Carrera T will go on sale in January 2018.
The new Porsche 911 Carrera T features a host of performance upgrades and a stripped out interior. However, the engine remains the same compared to the regular Carrera, with the 3.0-litre twin-turbo flat-six engine that produces 365bhp at 6,500rpm and 450Nm of torque between 1,750 and 5,000rpm.
Drive is sent to the rear wheels via a standard seven-speed manual gearbox. Porsche will offer the 911 Carrera T with a seven-speed dual clutch PDK automatic featuring launch control.
Performance improving options features as standard on the new 911 Carrera T include PASM sports suspension, which lowers the Carrera T's ride height by 20mm. The Carrera T also features a mechanical diff as standard while rear-wheel steering is available as an option.

In terms of design, the Porsche 911 Carrera T features a restyled front bumper with a more prominent front spoiler element. The housings for rear view mirrors are painted grey and the car sits on 20-inch alloy wheels. The engine cover features revised slats while the exhaust tips are centrally mounted.
Inside, the Carrera T features a leather-wrapped sports steering wheel along with a shortened gear lever when the manual gearbox is specified. Other tweaks to the interior include the lightweight four-way electronically adjustable seats which are clad with 'Sport-Tex' fabric upholstery a feature 911 loos on the headrest.
To save weight, the rear seats of the Porsche 911 Carrera T have disappeared along with most of the sound deadening material, while the side and rear windows use lightweight glass and the doors are opened using nylon loops. Other weight-saving tricks include the absence of the radio, sat nav and phone connectivity, though those can be added to the car as no-cost optional extras.
DriveSpark Thinks!
The Porsche 911 Carrera T is Porsche's idea of what a Touring version of its 911 Carrera model should be like. Think of it as a 911 R without the exclusivity and the ridiculous price tag and the new 911 Carrera T starts sounding like a better deal, though no matter what way you look it, the Porsche 911 range just got more complicated, again.
