Audi has revealed the second-generation A7 Sportback ahead of its debut at the 2017 Los Angeles Auto Show next month.
Audi has revealed the second-generation A7 Sportback ahead of its debut at the 2017 Los Angeles Auto Show next month. The new Audi A7 Sportback will go on sale in Europe in February 2018.
2018 Audi A7 Sportback Specifications
The new 2018 Audi A7 Sportback was revealed with a single engine option at its unveiling - a 3.0-litre V6 turbo petrol unit which bears the 55 TFSI badge under Audi's new naming scheme.
The engine produces 335bhp and 500Nm of torque and is mated to a 7-speed double-clutch automatic gearbox which sends power to all four wheels through the quattro all-wheel-drive system.
The Audi A7 55 TFSI sprints from 0-100kph in 5.3 seconds and has a top speed of 250kph. The new A7 will primarily be offered as a rear-wheel-drive car with the quattro all-wheel-drive available as an option. Other new tech additions include rear-wheel steering and the electronic chassis control system.

The Audi A7 Sportback will be available with more four and six-cylinder petrol and diesel engines when it hits showrooms in February.
All engines on the new A7 Sportback will be available with mild hybrid systems with the V6 engines using a 48V unit. The 2018 A7 also features regenerative braking which recharges the lithium-ion battery and a starter generator and allows the car to coast between 55 and 160kph.
The new Audi A7 is underpinned by the same 'MLB Evo' platform used by the new A8 luxury sedan. The new Audi A7 is 4,969mm long, has a wheelbase of 2,926mm and is 1,908mm wide, but stands only 1,422mm high. The A7's width and height have stayed the same, but despite the 5mm drop in length, the wheelbase has expanded by 10mm.
Audi A7 Design & Style
The new Audi A7's is more of an evolutionary change than a revolution in Audi's design language. The 2018 A7 Sportback carries over the A8's single-frame grille. However, the massive grille is wider and sits lower on the new A7 compared to the A8.
Flanking the gargantuan grille are the A7's new headlamps give the Sportback a rather angry look. The headlights themselves are available in three different forms: LED, HD Matrix LED, and HD Matrix LED with laser high beam.
The sides of the A7 Sportback remain mostly untouched but the rear end features a new tail light module which stretches across from one end to the other. The new LED taillights feature 13 vertical segments and produce "fast-moving light animations" when the doors are unlocked. The active rear spoiler rises whenever the A7 Sportback goes past 120kph.
Inside, the new A7 comes packed with a host of tech features borrowed from the A7 including the dual touchscreen display. The 10.1-inch upper display hosts the infotainment and sat-nav systems while the smaller 8.6-inch unit takes care of the climate control and other comfort features on the new A7.
The interior of the A7 debuts what Audi calls a "futuristic lounge atmosphere", which the German carmaker claims is designed to create a feeling of airiness and space inside the four-door coupe.
