2017 Honda Civic Spotted At Honda India’s Factory, Honda Considering Launch Later This Year
After being withdrawn from the Indian market for a few years, the Honda Civic seems set to make a re-entry in the Indian market as it was spotted at Honda’s factory in Rajasthan.
The 2017 Honda Civic has been spotted at Honda's factory in Tapukara, Rajasthan as per a report. The car was a left-hand-drive variant and was apparently imported only for testing purposes.
The Honda Civic was once a popular car in the Indian market. It won a few awards too, and most of those who bought it never had any complaints with it. However, Honda had a problem with the Civic, as, after its initial success, sales dropped drastically after 2012 because of tough competition from crossovers and compact SUVs.

It wasn't just the Civic that was affected, but other D-segment cars like the Toyota Corolla and the Hyundai Elantra too suffered low sales numbers. As a result of that, Honda decided to pull the plug on the Civic in 2013.
The demand and love for the Civic did not drop at all. Honda continued to receive enquiries about the launch of the new Civic but remained negative about its relaunch in India. The Civic being spotted at Honda's factory brings fresh hope for the Civic fans in the country.

Earlier this month, a few images of a white Honda Civic surfaced, saying that they were images from Honda's factory in Rajasthan. However, it later emerged that the images were from a private preview of the car in Pakistan and not India.
President and CEO of Honda Cars India Limited, Yoichiro Ueno was quoted as saying, "So far, we have not heard any negative feedback about the Civic. I see a lot of people in my neighbourhood still driving the old Civic with lots of love and care. If a replacement is launched, those customers will also love it."

With this, it is safe to assume that Honda is working on relaunching the Civic brand in India. Speculations are rife that, the new Civic will be launched in India during the festive season, or will see a debut at the 2018 Auto Expo in Delhi.
Drivespark Thinks!
The Honda Civic does have a fan following in India, and even years after it was discontinued, there are people eager to get their hands on one. While only the five-door hatchback has been spotted here, all four avatars of the new 2017 Honda Civic ( 5-door Hatchback, 4-door Sedan, Coupe and Type-R) have received rave reviews around the globe.
