Swedish carmaker Volvo has launched the hybrid variant of its XC90 SUV in India, called the XC90 Excellence T8 Hybrid, priced at Rs. 1.25 crore ex-showroom (Delhi). The XC90 T8 Hybrid is Volvo's most powerful offering for the Indian market.
The Volvo XC90 has already bagged 50 orders in India and deliveries will begin by the end of this year. Also, Volvo is the first carmaker to launch a vehicle equipped with radar-based technology in India, beating other luxury carmakers like Audi, Mercedes-Benz, and BMW.
Powering the Volvo XC90 Excellence T8 Hybrid is a 2.0-litre turbocharged and supercharged petrol engine coupled to an electric motor that produces 401bhp and 640Nm of peak torque. The hybrid power house comes mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox.
The Volvo XC90 Excellence T8 Hybrid can also run on pure electric mode. The SUV has a range of 40km on a fully charged battery and the company will install two charging stations for customers and the SUV will take 150 minutes to attain full charge. The XC90 hybrid will ride on 21-inch wheels.
On the features front, the Volvo XC90 Excellence T8 Hybrid is a strict four-seater compared to its diesel sibling already on sale in India. Other features include a refrigerator, folding tables, heating/ cooling cup holders, and a 20-speaker Bowers & Wilkins sound system.
Safety features aboard the Volvo XC90 Excellence T8 Hybrid include collision warning with fully autonomous braking, adaptive cruise control with Stop and Go function, and pedestrian, cyclist, and large animal detection function.
The Volvo XC90 Excellence T8 Hybrid is available in six colours: Magic Blue, Electric Silver, Crystal White, Bright Silver, Oyns Black, and Osmium Grey.
