Volvo To Start Bookings For S90 Sedan In India
Swedish carmaker Volvo will start accepting bookings from customers in India for the S90 luxury sedan ahead of its expected launch during the festive season.
The Volvo S90 will be a rival fro the BMW 5 series, Mercedes E-Class and the Audi A6.
Volvo is expected to launch the S90 with the D4 diesel engine when it first enters the country. Two trim levels will be available with the engine.
Later on, Volvo plans to bring the D5 diesel engine variant with all-wheel-drive into India. Since both the D4 and D5 diesel engines are under 2,000cc, Vovlo is unlikely to bring the T6 petrol engine variant into India, as those two engines can be sold in the Delhi NCR region.
The new Volvo S90 is already on sale in numerous international markets and is a sea change from the previous generations of the sedan.
The front of the car is dominated by a large grille with the Volvo badge in the centre. The grille is flanked by twin LED headlamps with daytime running lamps which Volvo calls Thor's Hammer headlamps. After the grille stretches a rather long bonnet.
At the rear are a set of LED taillamps are connected by the letters spelling out VOLVO above the rear numberplate.
