Volvo S90 Launched In India; Priced At Rs. 53.5 Lakh
Volvo has launched its flagship S90 sedan in India. The S90 is the first semi-autonomous car to be sold in India.
Swedish carmaker Volvo has launched the S90 luxury sedan in India. The flagship Volvo sedan is priced at Rs. 53.5 lakh, ex-showroom (Delhi).
The Volvo S90 is the successor to the previous S80 sedan and is based on the same Scalable Product Architecture (SPA) that underpins the XC90 SUV.
Powering the S90 in India is a 2.0-litre twin-turbocharged diesel engine that produces 187.4bhp and 400Nm of torque. The engine sends the power and torque to the rear wheels with the help of an 8-speed gearbox.
The new S90 features 3 driving modes: Eco, Comfort and Dynamic which adjusts the engine performance and the air suspension according to the mode selected.
The new S90 is 4,963mm long, 1,890mm wide and 1,443mm tall. The S90 has a 2,941mm long wheelbase and a turning circle of 11.4 metres. The S90 weighs in at 2,360 kilograms and has a 60-litre fuel tank.
Design wise, the S90 looks extremely sharp, especially at the front with the concave grille flanked by LED headlamps. The Headlamps feature the striking 'Thor's Hammer' daytime running lights found on the XC90 SUV.
At the rear the C-shaped LED tail lamps flank either side of letters spelling out VOLVO above the rear numberplate.
Inside, the S90 uses walnut wood and leather on the dashboard, which is dominated by an 9-inch touchscreen display which houses the infotainment system (featuring Apple CarPlay) along with the controls for the satellite navigation to the climate control system. Linked to infotainment system is a 19 speaker 1400W setup from Bowers and Wilkins.
The seats are wrapped in perforated Nappa Leather and feature heating and cooling. The power operated front seats feature electrically adjustable seat extenders.
The Volvo S90 features a whole host of safety features including the usual array of airbags, ABS with EBD, seatbelt pre-tensioners for all seats and other safety features like large animal detection and City Safety features..
The Volvo S90 is the first to be sold in India to feature semi-autonomous driving technology with its lane-assist feature which ensures that the car does not stray from the lane it is driving on.
The new Volvo S90 sedan will take on the likes of the Mercedes E-Class, BMW 5 Series, and the Audi A6.
