Volvo has officially revealed the launch date of its sedan S90 in India. The new sedan makes its official debut on November 4th this year and it will replace the S80.
As of now, S80 is the flagship sedan of the Swedish automaker in the country. The new S90 share its design with its SUV sibling. So, the vehicle gets sharp and elegant design characteristics.
The model will join the current lineup of S60, V40, S60 Cross Country, V40 Cross Country, XC60 and the XC90. The S90 will be offered in a single variant which includes all the features and technologies as standard equipment.
The sedan's design is based on Volvo's Scalable Product Architecture (SPA) platform. The car is powered by a 2.0-litre E drive turbocharged diesel engine which develops 190bhp of power and 400Nm of peak torque.
The powerplant is mated to an 8-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. The model also gets Thor's Hammer LED lights at the front and ‘C' shaped LED taillights.
Inside, the car features a high-end audio system from Bowers and Wilkins, Nappa leather seats and infotainment system with iPad compatibility.
Volvo also added an intelligent technology called Clean zone technology which filters dust and other unwanted particles inside the cabin.
A number of safety features are integrated such as pilot assist, park assist, city safety and large animal detection technology.
We can expect Volvo to price the S90 sedan around Rs 55 lakh, ex-showroom. By this introduction of the sedan, it will compete against the likes BMW 5 Series, Audi A6, Mercedes-Benz E-class and the Jaguar XF.
