Volvo’s Performance Polestar Brand To Be Launched In India In Early 2017
Volvo India has stated that it will be launching its performance brand, the Polestar in India in early 2017.
Volvo is all geared up to launch its performance brand, the Polestar in India in early 2017. Under this brand, the S60 sedan will be introduced to the Indian market.
Managing Director of Volvo Auto India, Tom Von Bonsdorff stated that Volvo is planning to launch the S60 Polestar in early 2017. It will be a performance alternative in the Indian market.
The S60 Polestar sedan which is going to be launched in India may be an updated version of the 2-litre four-cylinder engine producing 367bhp and 470Nm of torque.
The previous version of the Polestar was equipped with 3-litre inline six-cylinder turbocharged engine pumping 345bhp of power and 500Nm of torque.
The transmission of the performance sedan will feature an eight-speed automatic gearbox compared to the six-speed transmission of the old sedan.
The new S60 Polestar will also get stiffer suspension, larger air intake, bigger turbo and high-capacity fuel pump. The sedan also comes with Polestar-enhanced all-wheel-drive system.
The Volvo S60 Polestar can sprint from 0-100km/h in 4.7 seconds and the top-speed is electronically limited to 250km/h.
The new car will be significantly agile in handling as it sheds 15kg of weight compared to the older sedan and has improved weight distribution by reducing load over the front axle.
Volvo has recently launched the S90 sedan in India and is looking to boost the sales in the country. Currently, Volvo India has 15 dealerships across the country and will be expanding the network in the near future.
