Volkswagen India has added the updated 1.5-litre TDI engine to its entry-level sedan, the Vento. The brochure which is uploaded by the company to its website shows an increase in the power output of the Vento.
The new diesel unit now produces 108bhp of peak power. The old diesel motor produced only 103bhp at 4,400 rpm. The new updated engine was first added to the Ameo compact sedan.
The German automaker also added a new colour shade for the updated Vento - Silk Blue. In July, it was reported that the new variant will have several new features to boost the sales of VW in India.
Recently, the automaker introduced Vento Highline Plus ahead of the festive season. The new model features new LED headlights and DRLs.
Also, the updated diesel motor powers the facelifted Skoda Rapid which recently got launched in the country.
The diesel unit remains the same as the old model, but the difference is, VW has tuned the engine to give better power output and added a larger turbocharger.
The torque figure remains the same, 250Nm. The new Vento diesel is offered with two transmission choices: a 5-speed manual and a 7-speed DSG automatic.
The fuel economy of the manual and automatic variants are 22.27 km/l and 22.15 km/l respectively.
