Volkswagen Polo Based Compact SUV Could Launch By 2018
Volkswagen India is planning on expanding its product range for the constantly evolving market. The German-based automobile manufacturer was present at the 2016 Auto Expo in Delhi. Several new and interesting products were showcased at the motor show that will be launched in India.
Now the German-based manufacturer is keen to enter the popular compact SUV segment in India. Volkswagen will utilise its Polo hatchback as a base for their new compact SUV. The Polo based compact SUV is most likely to be introduced in the Indian market as early as 2018.
Previously, at the 2014 Auto Expo in Delhi, Volkswagen had showcased its T-ROC concept. The Polo compact SUV is expected to borrow several design cues from the T-ROC. Volkswagen will be utilising MQB AO platform, which is a modified version of the regular MQB platform.
It is unclear which engine options will be provided to the Polo compact SUV. Volkswagen India is most likely to use a retuned version of the petrol and diesel engine that does duty in the Polo hatchback. The German-based manufacturer could also develop an all-new engine line for the new model.
The Polo based compact SUV is most likely to be produced at VW's Chakan facility in Pune. Polo compact SUV will compete with likes of Renault Duster, Hyundai Creta, Mahindra TUV3OO, Nissan Terrano, and Honda BR-V models. Stay tuned for more updates on the Polo compact SUV as and when they are revealed.
