Juergen Stackman, the member of the board of management Volkswagen stated that Volkswagen is looking to localise its Polo-based compact SUV in India.
Stackman said that Volkswagen is in the process of trying to localise the compact SUV in India. The compact SUV will be entering markets in 2018.
The new compact SUV is likely to be based on the new MQB A0 platform. The next generation Polo hatchback is also based on the same chassis frame.
The design will be based on the T-Cross Breeze concept which was showcased at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year.
Volkswagen has also confirmed that the new SUV will come with plenty of technology and luxurious interior.
The upcoming SUV will be a straight rival to the Hyundai Creta and the T-Breeze concept is a clear hint of the upcoming SUV's design cues.
Volkswagen is likely to use the new 1-litre three-cylinder TSI petrol engine. For the Indian variant, a 1.2-litre four-cylinder petrol engine which produces 112bhp is expected.
This new compact SUV may give Volkswagen a chance to improve its market in India, where the compact SUV segment is a huge success.
