Volkswagen Group Delays Recall After Software Glitch
oi-Dennis
By Dennis
The Volkswagen group has delayed a recall of 160,000 cars in its home country of Germany after a software update to fix the emissions failed to work.
The recall affects 160,000 models of the Volkswagen Passat and the Skoda Superb powered by the 2.0-litre TDI diesel engine from VW.
Tests conducted by the German Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA) on the same 2.0-litre TDI engines which power the Amarok pickup truck, showed that the some engines started consuming more fuel after they started running with the updated software.
The recall of the Passat and the Superb is the second wave of recalls which is part of the VW group aim to fix a total of 8.5 million vehicles from the VW, Audi, Skoda and Seat brands across Europe.
