The new fastback model will be a four-door coupe-styled sedan and will be powered by turbocharged four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines.
The plug-in hybrid variant powertrain will include 3-litre V6 turbocharged petrol engine and two electric motors.
The new fastback model will be slotted above the VW Passat. When launched the VW fastback model will go head on with the likes of Audi A5 Sportback, BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe and the Mercedes-Benz CLC which will be launched in 2019.
