Volkswagen Ameo Revealed In India - To Go After Maruti's Swift Dzire

Volkswagen has launched the Ameo compact sedan in India at an event in Delhi on the eve of the 2016 Auto Expo. The word Ameo is derived from the Latin word Amo which means 'I Love.'

Engine And Gearbox Details

The Ameo will be offered with a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard with the Volkswagen's DSG automatic gearbox available as an optional.

Design

With regards to the style, the Ameo looks like a carbon copy of the Polo but with a boot added onto the back.

The interior looks similar to the Polo with a dual tone black and beige interior color combination, silver trim on the center console, multifunction 3-spoke steering wheel.

Prices, Availability & Rivals

The Ameo is expected to hit showrooms in the second half of 2016. Prices have not yet been revealed but VW will have to price it agressively to ensure it has a chance in a segment dominated by the Maruti Swift Dzire Other rivals for the ameo Hyundai Xcent and the Honda Amaze.
