Volkswagen Ameo Diesel Launch Postponed In India

First showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo in New-Delhi, the diesel sedan is based on the same platform of Polo. Ameo diesel is powered by 1.5-litre four-cylinder diesel engine with turbocharger. The diesel mill pumps out 110bhp and 250Nm of torque, which is likely to be equipped with manual or a seven-speed DSG gearbox.

Coming to the design, the Ameo diesel will be identical to its petrol counterpart. It is likely to come in three variants - Trendline, Comfortline and Highline.

As far as the features are concerned, the Ameo diesel will come with cruise control, touchscreen infotainment system, parking sensors and reverse camera.

The Volkswagen Ameo will go head on with the likes of Honda Amaze, Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire, Tata Bolt, Ford Figo Aspire and Hyundai Xcent.The Ameo diesel is expected to be launched in a price range of Rs 6.9 to Rs 9.5 lakh depending on the variant.
