After Takata, Airbag Maker ARC Automotive Faces Heat From Authorities
The US government is accusing an airbag parts manufacturer of delaying an investigation about a fatal car crash and is warning a massive fine over the lack of cooperation from the company.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) says in documents made public this week, that ARC Automotive Inc. of Knoxville, Tennessee, USA has missed time limits and has also failed to report crash information and test results as required by the law.
The agency (NHTSA) began looking for information in August, after an airbag inflator made by ARC burst and killed a woman in Canada. At the moment, as many as 8 million ARC made airbag inflators are under investigation.
Another notable airbag manufacturer who is in trouble for faulty airbag inflators is Takata, but the above mentioned report is separate. In the US, Takata has announced a recall for 69 million inflators.
