New Launches 2016: List Of Upcoming Vehicles In India
2016 will be a very promising year to any automobile enthusiast. There is a list of cars/ SUVs that will be launched this year in India, and here are a few vehicle to look out for.
Hatchbacks
Tata Zica
A very special car for Tata Motors, the Zica has been developed on a new platform. The Tata Zica will be placed below the Bolt in terms of segment, and the carmaker has done a lot to the car in terms of styling and designing. The car is powered by a choice of either a 1.2-litre petrol engine that produces 84bhp or a 1.0-litre diesel engine that is tuned to produce 69bhp. Both engines will be paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox and the launch is expected to happen in January 2016.

Datsun Redi-Go
Based on the same platform as the Renault Kwid, the Datsun Redi-Go is scheduled to launch in January. The Datsun Redi-Go will compete against the Alto 800, Hyundai Eon, and the Renault Kwid in the entry-level hatchback segment. The Redi-Go will be powered by the same 800cc petrol engine that powers the Kwid and could be on sale with an optional Automated Manual Transmission (AMT).

Volkswagen Polo GTI
Volkswagen showcased the Polo GTI at the 2015 Frankfurt motor Show that could make it to Indian the Indian market by mid-2016. The car is already in the process of being road tested by the carmaker. So what makes the car special? Well, the Volkswagen Polo GTI is powered by a 1.8-litre TSI petrol engine that produces 189bhp!

MUV/MPV
Renault Duster Facelift
The Renault Duster will receive its very needed facelift and is expected to hit the Indian market around October 2016. The Duster proved to be a very good selling vehicle in its segment, and of late, the outdated design is having an impact on sales. The Renault Duster facelift will be powered by the same engines that power the Duster now, which is a 1.6-litre petrol engine that produces 102bhp, and a 1.5-litre diesel engine that produces 84bhp and 108bhp. The facelifted Duster could also sport an Automated Manual Transmission (AMT).

Toyota Innova
Toyota has decided to give its best selling vehicle, the Innova a complete make over and launch it in India. The revamped innova is already on sale in Indonesia, and the new vehicle is bigger and wider, with a new engine. Powering the Innova will be the 2.4-litre diesel engine from the current model, but tuned to produce 147bhp instead of 100bhp. The launch is expected to happen in Feb 2016.

Tata Hexa
Tata Motors is giving its MPV a makeover as well. The Aria, which will now be called the Tata Hexa has received major changes and when launched in August (expected), it will be Tata's flagship model. Powering the Tata Hexa will be a 2.2-litre, VARICOR diesel engine that powers the Safari as well, tuned to produce 154bhp. The engine will be mated to a 6-speed manual transmission and will be available with an All-Wheel Drive variant.

Compact
SUV
Mahindra KUV100
A car that has been spotted in disguise a lot of times by our avid readers. Pictures of the KUV100 was finally revealed by Mahindra towards the end of 2015, and the launch is slated to take place on January 15, 2016. The KUV100 will be powered by a choice of either a 1.2-litre petrol or a 1.2-litre diesel engine that will produce 82bhp and 77bhp respectively.

Maruti Suzuki YBA (Vitara Brezza)
Maruti Suzuki is keen on entering the compact SUV market with its YBA Concept, which could be called the Vitara Brezza. The compact SUV has been spotted a lot of times being tested and the carmaker could launch the vehicle in July this year. The SUV could be powered by the same petrol and diesel engine that powers the Swift in India.

Honda BR-V
Japanese carmaker Honda is joining the Compact SUV segment as well with the Honda BR-V. Based on the Honda Mobilio platform, the BR-V could be expected to go on sale from Feb onward. The Honda BR-V will be powered by a choice of either Honda's 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol or the 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel engine. Also on offer will be a choice of either a manual or a CVT gearbox.

Ssangyong Tivoli
Being the second product in Ssangyong line up, the Tivoli is expected to launch somewhere in mid-2016. The Tivoli will compete against the Renault Duster, Hyundai Creta, and the Maruti Suzuki-Cross when launched. The Tivoli will have a choice of petrol and diesel engines under its hood and is expected to feature rain sensing wipers, automatic headlights, automatic climate control, etc.

Sedan
Hyundai Elantra Facelift
Although the Elantra underwent a major change sometime ago, the South Korean carmaker has given the Elantra a facelift and showcased the car during the 2015 Dubai motor Show. The launch is expected to happen in mid-2016, and the car will be powered by 1.6-litre diesel engine, 1.6-litre petrol engine, and a 2.0-litre petrol engine.

Tata Zica Sedan
Tata Motors will launch a sedan based on the Tata Zica, soon after the Zica hatchback is launched. Expected to launch around August, the Zica Sedan (which is made under the codename Kite) will compete with the Honda Amaze, Hyundai Xcent, and the Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire in the Indian market. Powering the new Tata sedan could be the same three-cylinder petrol and diesel engine from the Zica.

Volkswagen Ameo
Volkswagen is keen to enter the compact sedan segment, and will launch the Ameo. The Ameo is expected to launch during Feb 2016, at the Auto Expo. The car carries basic design features from the Polo and the Vento, and is expected to be powered by a 1.2-litre petrol engine and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. The engines could also be paired to a optional DSG gearbox.

Mahindra Verito (Electric)
Mahindra is keen to expand its electric vehicle lineup, and the next expected product from Mahindra could be an all-electric Verito. The car, along with the electric Maxximo was showcased during the 2014 Auto Expo, and the Maxximo is being used currently to ferry passengers around the Taj Mahal. The Verito Electric could be launched at the upcoming Auto Expo and may be powered by the same battery pack that drives the e20, with a few modifications.

SUV
Ford Endeavour
With the SUV market growing in India, Ford will join the league with the updated Endeavour, expected to launch in January. The new Endeavour will be powered by two diesel engines, a 2.2-litre and a 3.2-litre engine, and will have a 4X4 variant. The Endeavour will also be equipped with an optional automatic gearbox and compete with the Chevrolet Trailblazer in the Indian market.

Jeep Wrangler
Jeep has been looking to enter India for a while now, and have finally made an announcement that they will be present at the upcoming Auto expo. The company plans on launching two new products and one of them is the Jeep Wrangler, which will compete against luxury SUVs in the Indian market. The Jeep Wrangler will be available with a 2.8-litre diesel engine and the 3.6-litre V6 petrol engine could also make an entry to India.

Jeep Grand Cherokee
The Jeep Cherokee will be the second product from the American brand to enter India. The model that will be sold in India could sport a 3.0-litre, V6 diesel engine that will produce 237bhp. The Jeep Grand Cherokee will be four-wheel drive variant, and could be hit the market by August.

Mercedes-Benz GLE 450 AMG
Mercedes-Benz was on a spree to launch 15 cars in 2015, and the German carmaker did it. The next model to be launched will be the Mercedes-benz GLE 450 AMG, which will launch on 12 January, 2016. The GLE 450 AMG will be powered by 3.0-litre, twin turbo V6 that will produce 362bhp and power will be sent to all four wheels. Once launched, the Mercedes-Benz GLE 450 AMG will compete with the BMW X6.

New Audi A4
The Audi A4 is also undergoing a makeover for 2016. The new Audi A4 is expected to make an entry in India by late 2016, and will be available with a choice of four petrol engine and three diesel engines. The facelifted Audi A4 was previously showcased at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show.

Skoda Superb
The Skoda Superb will be Skoda's flagship car, and will make it to India around Feb 2016. The 2016 Skoda Superb will be longer and wider than the current model, and will also sport the same engines, which are a 1.8-litre TSI petrol engine that produces 158bhp and a 2.0-litre TDI diesel engine that will produce 138bhp. The top-of-the-line variant could feature all-wheel drive.

Mercedes-Benz GLS
The Mercedes-Benz GLS is the company's flagship SUV. The GLS was unveiled in November, and is basically the SUV version of the German carmaker's S-Class luxury sedan. The SUV could be expected to make an Indian debut around mid-2016, with a choice of three engines.

Sportscar
Nissan GT-R
Nissan has made up its mind to bring the GT-R to India, which has been in plans for a long time. After Ferrari made a return to India, and Mercedes launching the AMG GT-S, Nissan thought it was a good idea to launch its flagship car as well. The Nissan GT-R will be powered by a twin turbocharged, 3.6-litre V6 that produces 542 bhp, and a standard all-wheel drive system.

Ford Mustang
Seeing the potential India has with performance cars, Ford is also planning to bring the iconic Mustang to India somewhere around the first half of this year. The Mustang comes powered either by a 2.3-litre ecoboost engine that delivers 310bhp, or the naturally aspirated 5.0-litre V8 that produces 400bhp. Expect the launch to take place around May 2016.
