Toyota Reveals The 2017 Yaris WRC With All Finland Driver Lineup
Toyata revealed the 2017 WRC challenger, the Yaris WRC in Helsinki, Finland.
Toyota unveiled the Yaris WRC car for the 2017 World Rally Championship. The official team launch was held in Helsinki, Finland. Along with the car, the manufacturer announced the all-Finland driver lineup.
Former Volkswagen driver Jari-Matti Latvala joins the team after Volkswagen bid goodbye to WRC. WRC 2 champion Esapekka Lappi was named as the third driver of the Toyota Gazoo Racing team.
Finnish driver Juho Hanninen was already named as the factory driver as he played a key role in developing the Yaris WRC. Latvala and Hanninen will contest in all 13 rounds of the WRC, whereas Lappi will compete in selected rounds starting from spring.
Coming to the car, the Yaris WRC looks dramatic and aggressive complying to the new WRC regulations. The car with the official livery looks stunning with massive aero kit.
The Yaris WRC is powered by 1.6-litre four cylinder turbocharged engine producing a massive 380bhp of power. The car is also equipped with aero kits such as massive rear wing, rear diffuser and specially designed front bumper.
Four-time WRC Champion and Toyota WRC team boss, Tommi Makinen said, "The Yaris WRC is a well-designed car with incredible potential. "The new regulations allow for much greater freedom in terms of development. I really can't wait to see the results in racing conditions."
