Toyota Sets Guinness World Record With Biggest Parade: Complete Details

On the Earth Day of 2016, Toyota wanted to emphasize its involvement in green technology and attempted to set the biggest parade of its flagship model - the Prius.

Toyota owners, a total of 332 made a parade lap to celebrate the Earth Day on April 22, 2016. The parade was proved by the Guinness World Record representatives as a record set for the biggest parade of Toyota Prius.

The Toyota Prius is a full hybrid electric mid-size hatchback car and is considered to be the cleanest vehicles sold in the United States.

Toyota Motor Corporation boasts of its Lexus and other Toyota brands are nearly double in terms of numbers of hybrids on the road than any other manufacturer.

Hence, this biggest parade has further consolidated its stand in the USA of the largest sold hybrids in the country. It accounts for more than 40 percent of country's Prius vehicles.

Toyota has various models in its Prius family, they are Prius Plug-in Hybrid, Prius Prime, Prius V and Prius C. The hybrid car is sold worldwide in over 90 countries and regions accounting an approximate 8 million units of Prius sold till date.

The specifications of the Toyota Prius, which is powered by 1.8-litre, 4-cylinder, Hybrid engine, which develops 95bhp at 5200rpm and 142Nm of torque at 3600rpm. The electric motor of the Prius is powered by 71bhp and a torque of 163Nm. The battery is made of lithium-ion and the Prius is mated to ECVT (Electronically-controlled Continuously Variable Transmission).

The price of the Toyota Prius in India starts at Rs. 38.10 lakh ex-showroom (Delhi). Since the Prius is a hybrid car and depends on electric to power it, there have been problems or issues called out by its owners, some of them being the lighting and internal accessories which were either had issues or not working, however, Toyota has been working on the development of the car from the time it was introduced to the world and have been successful in addressing the issues.
