Three Areas Where Toyota Leads Hyundai, M&M And Tata Motors
When it comes to segment leader, Toyota Kirloskar Motor leads in three and outperforms Hyundai, M&M, and Tata Motors. Toyota might be having low sales volume overall, however, they lead in three segments.
Maruti Suzuki has the highest number of segment leaders, Hyundai has one, and M&M and Tata Motors has none.
On the other hand, Toyota has three leaders in Corolla, Innova Crysta and Fortuner which leads in three segments. With seven models in their portfolio, the three leaders dominate the Executive sedan, UV2 (under Rs. 15 lakh), UV4 (under Rs. 25 lakh).
The recently launched Innova Crysta sales are good and even beat the Creta and Vitara Brezza in terms of numbers. With the diesel ban of more than 2000cc engine, Toyota did outperform in the UV2 and UV4 segments with sales of 19,699 of Innova and 1,999 units of Fortuner and 1,577 units of Corolla.
Hyundai leads in the UV1 segment with Creta and Mahindra does not have any leaders, however, they have volume in sales. Toyota stands at top 5 below Tata Motors, M&M, Hyundai and the leader Maruti Suzuki.
Toyota has seven models, however, its competitors have good number models in their portfolio and this helps them achieve volume in sales.
N. Raja, Senior Vice President and Director of Marketing & Sales, Toyota Kirloskar Motor said, "Although we are predominantly present in segments with a price band of Rs 10 lakh and above, we do have representation in the B hatch and B sedan segments through our products in the Etios series since 2010. Our Etios series models (Etios, Liva and Cross) are also being appreciated for their performances driven by QDR philosophy. We will continue serving our customers in this segment as well with Etios series models".
