With the festive season approaching near, car manufacturers are shifting gears to launch new models in India. From Renault to Maruti or Tata, are queuing up their models for launch.

Here is the list of top 10 upcoming cars this year that will raise your interest levels to book a new car.

Nissan GT-R

India will finally get its hands on the iconic and popular Nissan GT-R, known as the Godzilla of supercars world over.

The country will get the new generation Nissan GT-R which looks menacing than the outgoing model. On the exterior, the V-motion grille finished in matte chrome which looks distinctive and sharper.

Nissan has powered the GT-R with the 3.8-litre twin-turbo V6 which churns out 565bhp, an additional 20bhp from its predecessors. Even the torque has increased by 5Nm bringing the total to 633Nm.

New Generation Audi A4

The new Audi A4 has been worked completely both on the exterior and interiors and is ready to hit the Indian market. Audi India will launch the new A4 initially in petrol variant and then later in the diesel model.

As for the petrol variant, the new Audi A4 will be powered by a new entry-level 1.4-litre TFSI engine. There is also a probability of a 2.0-litre TFSI engine which could be seen under the hood of the new Audi A4.

Audi will offer a diesel mill which is a 2.0-litre TDI versionsoon. The new Audi A4 has been spotted several times and the launch looks imminent.

Maruti Suzuki Baleno RS

One of the best sellers for Maruti, the Baleno has good sales in the premium hatchback segment. Now, Maruti wants to provide a performance oriented Baleno in the form of RS.

The Baleno RS was unveiled at the recent Auto Expo 2016 in Delhi and it has been spotted testing on Indian roads raising the pitch for its launch.

Compared to the Baleno, the RS will come with asporty exterior with the addition of the body kit. Even the interior will compliment the exterior with asporty finish.

As for the power, the Baleno RS will come with the 1.0-litre Booster Jet, turbo petrol engine and is expected to churn out 112bhp of power and 175Nm of peak torque.

Maruti Suzuki Ignis

Maruti is confident that the launch of the Ignis will be as per schedule in spite of the waiting period witnessed in the Vitara Brezza, Baleno, and S Cross. It has ramped up production of these vehicles to cut down the waiting period.

A new segment is being carved in the Indian market - small sub-four compact SUV or mini SUV. Ignis will fall in this category, Mahindra has already offered the KUV100 in this segment.

With its plastic cladding to the flared wheel arches, and the 180mm of ground clearance, the Maruti Ignis will have characteristics of an SUV.

Apart from the exterior, it will boast of features like hill descent control, Dual Camera Braking System (DCBS), camera equipped front and back sensors, the Ignis is considered an mini SUV.

Maruti will power the Ignis with the choice of petrol and diesel mills. The petrol unit will be of 1.2-litre and the 1.3-litre will be of thediesel unit. Also, expected is the 1.0-litre Booster Jet engine.

As for the gearbox, you can expect it to come with the choice of either a 5-speed manual or a CVT gearbox.

Volkswagen Polo GTI

The market for performance induces premium hatchback was started with the Volkswagen Polo. Now, the German car maker wants to bring in the GTI version of the Polo.

Volkswagen has the Polo GT TSI in India, but it wants to bring the crazy GTI which produces a menacing 190bhp of power. The Polo GTI will come with the 1.8-litre TSI turbocharged petrol engine which comes with 250Nm of peak torque.

The VW Polo GTI will go from 0 - 100kmph in 6.7 seconds. The gearbox will be handled by the 7-speed DSG autobox which is seen in the Volkswagen Vento and Polo GT.

On the design aspect, the Polo GTI will feature the signature red highlight line on the front grille which runs across the LED headlamps. Also seen are the GTI-specific rear spoiler, sporty bumpers, red brake calipers, new alloy wheels, LED fog lamps, and GTI insignia.

Volkswagen will launch the Polo GTI in the 3-door format and the 5-door version will arrive later. The company will not be manufacturing the Polo GTI in India and will come as Completely Built Unit (CBU) and this will make the hot hatch expensive.

Tata Hexa

Another MPV which is set to create choices in the market will be the Tata Hexa. The MPV from Tata is a reworked version of the Tata Aria. The Hexa will sit above the Safari and will be the flagship model of the manufacturer.

With its muscular design language and Tata's signature honeycomb mesh front grille to the redesigned air dam and the projector headlamps, Tata has come a long way in terms of design.

The Hexa from Tata is butch and beefy with its sculpted design, especially the front bonnet. On the inside, Tata has come a long way providing excellent features which include intelligent media system, premium quality plastic and fabric for the seats.

Tata Hexa will come with six airbags, ESP, rain sensing wipers and a host of SUV features which will rival some of the best MPVs in the market.

As for the engine, Tata will equip the Hexa with 2.2-litre diesel unit seen in the Safari Storme VARICOR 400. The engine will produce 154bhp and 400Nm of torque and will come mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox.

Honda Accord Hybrid

Honda wants to get back to its premium tag image and is looking to launch the Accord with a hybrid version. In terms of exteriors, the new Honda Accord Hybrid looks sporty and premium, based on the bolder looks.

As for the power unit, the Honda Accord comes with 2.0-litre petrol mill with paired with a lithium-ion battery pack powered electric unit. While the petrol engine powers 141bhp and the electric motor will develop 45bhp together they punch out 196bhp and a peak torque of 306Nm.

Doing the gearbox duty will be the CVT auto box designed specifically for the Honda Accord's high torque specs.

Tata Nexon

Tata Motors is upping the heat on the compact SUV segment with the upcoming launch of the Nexon. Unveiled at the Delhi Auto Expo 2016, the Tata Nexon received good attention with its well-proportioned design.

The Tata Nexon might be a compact SUV, however, it has been given the coupe treatment and the outcome is impressive.

Expected to be powered by the Fiat sourced 1.3-litre diesel engine, however, current suggestion state that it will come with a powerful 1.5-litre diesel unit. The 1.5-litre diesel mill is expected to produce 108bhp and 260Nm of torque and will be mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox.

A petrol unit could make its way to the Nexon which is seen in the Tiago and the Zest, a 1.2-litre Revotron petrol engine developed by Tata Motors.

Once launched, the Tata Nexon will rival the Maruti Vitara Brezza, Ford EcoSport, and the Mahindra TUV300.

Jeep will bring the Grand Cherokee and the Wrangler Unlimited. India will receive both the Grand Cherokee and the performance-oriented SRT variant.

As for the standard Grand Cherokee, it will be equipped with 3.0-litre V5 EcoDiesel engine churning out 240bhp and mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox which can be guided through paddle shifters.

The Grand Cherokee SRT will come with more powerful 6.4-litre V8 petrol engine and mated to the 8-speed automatic gearbox seen in the standard variant.

Another product from Jeep to be launched is the Wrangler Unlimited, this will be the brand entry-level product which brings the nostalgia of a true-blue SUV.

The India bound model will come with 2.8-litre diesel engine that produces 197bhp and good 460Nm of torque. To identify itself as an off-roader, it will be equipped with the Command-Trac 4X4 system.

Renault Kwid AMT

Renault has taken the market by storm with the Kwid and the 800cc vehicle has not disappointed its manufacturer, it has sold 75,000 unit in 7 months of its launch.

Now, the French car manufacturer will launch the 1.0-litre engine and expecting to produce 67bhp of power and will be mated to the rotary AMT gear shift knob in the centre console.

On the design front, the 1.0-litre variant will be the same as the Kwid 800cc, except for the badging. However, on the feature front, the 1.0-litre Kwid is expected with standard dual airbags and ABS with EBD.
