Tesla Model S P100D Model To Get Even More Faster — Time To Take On The Bugatti Chiron?
Tesla boss Elon Musk's comments suggest that the P100D variants of the Model Scould get even quicker.
Tesla Motors CEO Elon Musk is known for confirming new updates before they happen for the cars that roll off his company's production lines.
Now, Musk is at it again as he tweeted out the following tweet while discussing changes to the Tesla lineup, "Forgot to mention there will be a P100D Ludicrous Easter egg soon that uncorks the full performance."
The current Model S P100D according to Tesla, can accelerate from 0-60m/h (96.5km/h) in 2.5 seconds which the company claims is as quick hypercars like the Ferrari LaFerrari, the McLaren P1 and the Porsche 918 Spyder.
However, Musk's tweet suggests that an update to the Ludicrous acceleration mode which sends all the power and torque from the motors to the wheels at once, could see the Model S out accelerate three cars that petrolheads regard as the 'Holy Trinity of Hypercars.'
However, Musk's tweet suggests that an update to the Ludicrous acceleration mode which sends all the power and torque from the motors to the wheels at once, could see the Model S out accelerate three cars that petrolheads regard as the 'Holy Trinity of Hypercars.'
An under 2.5 second time will mean that the Model S will butt heads with what many consider to be the new ultimate hypercar - the Bugatti Chiron.
Given that the Chiron is almost 20 times the price of the Model S P100D, a drag race between the duo could be the ultimate David versus Goliath battle for those who love speed.
While Musk hasn't revealed when the update will hit current P100D cars, the news will thrill Tesla fans who just got hit by the fact that the P90D variants of the Model S and X would no longer be produced by Tesla.
